SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Francis W. Copeland D.V.M of Bettendorf,
4Iowa, who passed away on December 17, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Francis Copeland was born near Yorktown, Iowa to
6Harry W. and Emma (Meyers) Copeland on September 23, 1922 and
7grew up in rural Shenandoah; he graduated from Iowa State
8University and served in the United States Army Air Corps as a
9P-38 pilot during World War II; he married Eleanor Heinrich;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Francis Copeland began farming after the war; he
12then continued his education and earned his degree in
13veterinary medicine; he moved with his family to Prophetstown
14in 1958, where he began his practice, retiring in 1987; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Francis Copeland was preceded in death by his
16parents; his brother, Verral H. Copeland; and his sisters, Fern
17Otte and Dorthy Hughes; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Francis Copeland is survived by his son, Rod W.
19(Linda) Copeland; his daughter, Jane (Jeff Miller)
20Chiappinelli; his grandchildren, Elena (Bob) Casper and Evan
21Chiappinelli; and his great-granddaughter, Lilliana Casper;

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Francis W. Copeland D.V.M., and extend our sincere condolences
5to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
6it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Francis Copeland as an expression of
9our deepest sympathy.
