| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois Senate pays | 3 | | honor and respect
to the truly great individuals who have | 4 | | served our country and, in doing so, have gone above and
beyond | 5 | | the call of duty in truly heroic acts; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Jeffrey Allen Williams was born in Kansas
City, | 7 | | Missouri to Sandra Smith on February 23, 1985; he graduated | 8 | | from Wheaton Warrenville South High
School in 2003; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Jeffrey Williams joined the United States Army | 10 | | after high school,
achieving the rank of Corporal; he was | 11 | | deployed to Iraq in February of 2005 where he
valiantly served | 12 | | as an Army Medic in Operation Iraqi Freedom; and | 13 | | WHEREAS, For his heroism, Jeffrey Williams was awarded the | 14 | | Bronze Star Medal,
the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation | 15 | | Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on
Terrorism | 16 | | Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army | 17 | | Service Ribbon, and
the Combat Medic Badge; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Jeffrey Williams was killed in action while | 19 | | serving his country on September 5, 2005
in Iraq; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Jeffery Williams had a deep connection to the |

due to running errands to help his | 2 | | mother and, in doing so, he befriended many of the employees; | 3 | | and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Jeffrey Williams' service to our nation deserves | 5 | | recognition; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we urge the U.S. Postal | 8 | | Service to rename the Warrenville Post Office
in honor of | 9 | | Jeffrey Allen Williams to honor his heroic service to our | 10 | | nation; and be it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | 12 | | delivered to Postmaster General of the United States Megan J. | 13 | | Brennan, President Donald Trump, U.S. Senate Majority Leader | 14 | | Mitch McConnell, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, | 15 | | U.S. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, U.S. House of | 16 | | Representatives Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and all members | 17 | | of the Illinois Congressional Delegation.
