| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Commander Paul Bauer, who was killed | 4 | | protecting his community on February 13, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer gave the ultimate sacrifice | 6 | | for his community, one that he swore to protect; he shall be | 7 | | remembered as a true hero to the people and to his family; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer was a 31-year veteran of the | 9 | | Chicago Police Department; he rose to the rank of Commander and | 10 | | led the 18th district on Chicago's near north side; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer will be remembered for his | 12 | | bravery in answering the call of duty; he made it his mission | 13 | | in life to try and connect with the community he served; he is | 14 | | remembered not only as a Chicago police officer, but also as a | 15 | | community icon; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer was a husband, brother, son, | 17 | | and father; he loved his daughter, Grace, and his wife, Erin, | 18 | | who were the center of his world; he will be remembered as a | 19 | | hero to the people of Chicago and as a loving man who was | 20 | | committed to his family; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer is survived by his daughter, | 2 | | Grace; his wife, Erin Nee Molloy; his parents, Paul and Annette | 3 | | Bauer; and his sisters, Pam (Andy) Howell, Sue (Frank) March, | 4 | | and Jane (Chris) Schuleitand; he will also be remembered as a | 5 | | dear brother-in-law, uncle, and friend; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer gave the ultimate sacrifice | 7 | | to his community and the people of Chicago on February 13, | 8 | | 2018; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Commander Paul Bauer and extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Commander Paul Bauer as an | 16 | | expression of our deepest sympathy.
