SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Commander Paul Bauer, who was killed
4protecting his community on February 13, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer gave the ultimate sacrifice
6for his community, one that he swore to protect; he shall be
7remembered as a true hero to the people and to his family; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer was a 31-year veteran of the
9Chicago Police Department; he rose to the rank of Commander and
10led the 18th district on Chicago's near north side; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer will be remembered for his
12bravery in answering the call of duty; he made it his mission
13in life to try and connect with the community he served; he is
14remembered not only as a Chicago police officer, but also as a
15community icon; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer was a husband, brother, son,
17and father; he loved his daughter, Grace, and his wife, Erin,
18who were the center of his world; he will be remembered as a
19hero to the people of Chicago and as a loving man who was
20committed to his family; and

1    WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer is survived by his daughter,
2Grace; his wife, Erin Nee Molloy; his parents, Paul and Annette
3Bauer; and his sisters, Pam (Andy) Howell, Sue (Frank) March,
4and Jane (Chris) Schuleitand; he will also be remembered as a
5dear brother-in-law, uncle, and friend; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Commander Paul Bauer gave the ultimate sacrifice
7to his community and the people of Chicago on February 13,
82018; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Commander Paul Bauer and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Commander Paul Bauer as an
16expression of our deepest sympathy.
