| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Donald L. "Don" Perkins of Woodstock, who | 4 | | passed away on February 6, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Don Perkins was born on the Perkins Farm in | 6 | | Woodstock to Gladys and Lester Perkins on April 19, 1925; he | 7 | | was a World War II veteran and served in the Ninth Division of | 8 | | the United States Army in the European Theater; he earned two | 9 | | Purple Hearts, along with other honors; he married Joyce Tornow | 10 | | on September 2, 1950; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Don Perkins was the Seneca Township Highway | 12 | | Commissioner for 40 years; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Don Perkins was especially proud of the | 14 | | construction of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he was an | 15 | | active member; he was also involved with the McHenry County | 16 | | Historical Society; he held various leadership roles and was | 17 | | always willing to volunteer for tasks and projects; he was | 18 | | known for his sense of humor, which he did not hesitate to | 19 | | share, especially at the Seneca Township Liars' Club; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Don Perkins was preceded in death by his wife, | 21 | | Joyce; his parents; and his sister, Marguerite Lange; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Don Perkins is survived by his children, Deb | 2 | | (John) Silker, Gail Perkins, Lori (Phil) Hempen, and Don | 3 | | Perkins II; his grandchildren, Doran (Cori) Silker, Nikki | 4 | | (Drew) Kunde, Kate Silker, Shelly (Ryan) Burgett, Genna | 5 | | (Steven) Mitchell, and Sammi Jo Hempen; and his | 6 | | great-grandchildren, Evan, Maddison, and Landen Silker, and | 7 | | Dylan and Elliot Kunde; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Donald L. "Don" Perkins and extend our sincere condolences to | 11 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Don Perkins as an expression of our | 15 | | deepest sympathy.
