SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Cheffer of East Moline, who
4passed away on April 24, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Cheffer was born in Kankakee to Elmer and
6Lillian (Daugherty) Cheffer on July 30, 1930; he served in the
7United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953;
8he graduated from Bradley University; he married Arlene Shaw at
9Elmwood Methodist Church on June 27, 1953; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bob Cheffer began his career at Alexander Lumber
11and Joliet Federal Savings and Loan; he then moved to the Quad
12Cities in 1983; he was President of Rock Island Federal Savings
13and Loan and later Vice President at Metrobank in East Moline;
14he was a real estate appraiser early in his banking career and
15also during his retirement, when he had his own appraisal
16company; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Bob Cheffer served with the Society of Real Estate
18Appraisers, where he held the designations of SRA and RM within
19the appraisal community; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bob Cheffer served the City of East Moline as
21alderman of the Sixth Ward from 2011 until 2018 and on the East

1Moline Planning Commission for 25 years; he was a longtime
2member of Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline, where
3he served on the financial board; he helped at the food pantry,
4was past president of the Rock Island Rotary, and was a member
5of the East Moline Rotary; he served the Quad Cities Lions Club
6and was a Mason; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Bob Cheffer was preceded in death by his parents
8and his siblings, John, Mildred, Fred, and Bea; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Cheffer is survived by his wife, Arlene; his
10children, Roger Cheffer, Todd (Beth) Cheffer, and Cynthia
11Quillin; his grandchildren, Patrick (LeAnn) Quillin, Bobby
12(Taelor) Cheffer, Joel Cheffer, Keaton Cheffer, and Tori
13Cheffer; his great-grandchildren, Adeline Cheffer, Charleigh
14Quillin, and Harper Quillin; and his twin brother, William
15(Irma) Cheffer; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Robert "Bob" Cheffer and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Bob Cheffer as an expression of our
