2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Mary Ellen Platt, who passed away on |
4 | | March 9, 2018; and

5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Platt was a proud retired lieutenant with the |
6 | | Chicago Police Department; she lived life out loud and had one |
7 | | of the most generous hearts; her infectious laughter, energy, |
8 | | and adventurous spirit were truly one-of-a-kind; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Mary Platt was a globe trotter who travelled to |
10 | | more than 100 countries, visiting dozens of nieces, nephews, |
11 | | and dear friends; she was the life of the party, and had a |
12 | | refreshing no-nonsense sense of humor and confidence that left |
13 | | a mark on everyone she met; and

14 | | WHEREAS, Mary Platt was the loving and devoted wife of the |
15 | | late Amando Mercado Jr.; the cherished daughter of the late |
16 | | James and the late Jacqueline; the beloved sister of Rosanne |
17 | | (Eddie) Resteghene, Robert (Cathy) Platt, James (Cathy) Platt, |
18 | | Jane (Bob) Garro, Lucille (the late Joe) Biggins, Barbara |
19 | | (Terry) Hennigan, Theresa (Marty) Hennigan, Thomas (Kathy) |
20 | | Platt, Jacqueline (Jerry) Kuipers, William (Rita) Platt, and |
21 | | Bernadette (Brian) Dyra; the cherished aunt of 39 nieces and |
22 | | nephews; and the great-aunt of 17; therefore, be it
