SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Phillip V. "Phil" "Butch" Tubbs of Moline, who passed away on May 2, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Phil Tubbs was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Jesse and Matilda Tubbs on May 23, 1939; he married Judith Ferrall, and they later divorced; he then married Sharon Gibson; and

WHEREAS, Phil Tubbs proudly served in the United States Navy as a gunner's mate aboard the USS Des Moines from 1958 until 1966; he retired from the Rock Island Arsenal, where he was a machinist, in 1988; and

WHEREAS, Phil Tubbs enjoyed the beauty and collecting of antiques; he had a passion for food and spending time outdoors; he also loved to travel; and

WHEREAS, Phil Tubbs was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Judith Flint; his brother, Richard Tubbs; and his stepdaughter, Tammy Van Hoosier; and

WHEREAS, Phil Tubbs is survived by his wife, Sharon; his children, Eugene (Melissa) Tubbs, Phyllis (Eric) Mossage, and Cheryl (Joseph) Raskin; his seven grandchildren; and his four great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Phillip V. "Phil" "Butch" Tubbs and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Phil Tubbs as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
