| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Roger G. "Willie" Williams of Schaumburg, | 4 | | who passed away on May 12, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Roger Williams was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to | 6 | | Glenn and Dorothy (Rogers) Williams on June 22, 1935; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Roger Williams began his career in the United | 8 | | States Navy, where he served for over 20 years; that career | 9 | | took him around the world, and he earned the rank of Master | 10 | | Chief; after he retired from the Navy, he embarked on a 20-year | 11 | | career with Spring Telecommunication; he also dedicated his | 12 | | time to local politics; for over 25 years, he sat on several | 13 | | boards within the Village of Schaumburg, including the Planning | 14 | | Committee, Bikeways Committee, and he eventually served as | 15 | | Chairman of The Zoning Board of Appeals; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Roger Williams was an avid gardener and grew | 17 | | tomatoes and other vegetables; his nurturing and patient | 18 | | demeanor yielded him the most succulent toasted tomato | 19 | | sandwiches, which he enjoyed with extra pepper; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Roger Williams was preceded in death by his | 21 | | parents and his brother, Gene; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Roger Williams is survived by his wife, Katherine; | 2 | | his children, Debra (James) Teufel, Roger II, David (Maggie), | 3 | | and Daniel (Lori); his grandchildren, Katie (Jim) Parker, Kevin | 4 | | Teufel, Michael Teufel, and Alyssa, Ryan, Trevor, Trenton, | 5 | | Tommy, and Abby Williams; his great-grandchildren, Brooklyn | 6 | | and Nicholas Parker; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | Roger G. "Willie" Williams and extend our sincere condolences | 10 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 11 | | it further
| 12 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 | | presented to the family of Roger Williams as an expression of | 14 | | our deepest sympathy.
