SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Albert J. "Big Al" Lampo Sr. of East
4Moline, who passed away on May 6, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Albert Lampo was born in Moline to Alphons and
6Mary (DeBel) Lampo on October 14, 1924; he graduated from Union
7Township High School in 1942 and joined the United States Navy
8in February of 1943; he served as a Fire Controlman 1st Class
9aboard the USS Gunason DE795 in both the Atlantic and South
10Pacific theaters; he was discharged in February of 1946; he
11married Bernice May Lundeen on October 11, 1947; he married
12Vera Bahan on April 23, 1993; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Albert Lampo began working in the lathing trade;
14he then worked for Allied Construction for over 20 years,
15retiring in 1988; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Albert Lampo was a lifelong member of St. Mary's
17Catholic Church in East Moline until its closing; he was an
18avid reader of Tom Clancy, John Sanford, John Grisham, and the
19Daily Dispatch newspaper; he enjoyed traveling, crossword
20puzzles, drawing, woodwork, bowling, and gardening; he was
21affectionately known as "Bampo" to his grandchildren and
22great-grandchildren; and

1    WHEREAS, Albert Lampo was preceded in death by his two
2wives; his parents; and his brother and best friend, Joseph;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Albert Lampo is survived by his children, Albert
5Jr., Denise Campagna, Beth Lampo, and Jerry Lampo; six
6grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Gerard
7and Edward; his sisters, Mary Ann Meincke, Anne Blomme, and
8Theresa Challenger; and his special friend, Barb Michalek;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Albert J. "Big Al" Lampo Sr., and extend our sincere
13condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
14him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Albert Lampo as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
