SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Billy E. Sherrod of East Moline, who
4passed away on May 18, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Billy Sherrod was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to
6Claude F. Sr. and Pauline Ralston Sherrod on March 3, 1932; he
7served in the U.S. Army and married JoAnn L. Ponce in East
8Moline on October 30, 1954; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Billy Sherrod worked as a welder and set-up man
10for Ametek and the George Evans Corp. for many years; he
11retired in 1994; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Billy Sherrod enjoyed gardening, fishing,
13gambling, going to garage sales, and spending time with his
14family, especially his grandchildren; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Billy Sherrod was preceded in death by his
16parents; his son, Dennis Sherrod; his brothers, Thomas and
17Claude F. Sherrod Jr.; and his sisters, Helen Anderson and
18Dorothy Nelson; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Billy Sherrod is survived by his wife, JoAnn; his
20daughters, Terri (Mark) Henry and Sandra (Carl) Horton; his

1daughter-in-law, Lisa (Jim) Sherrod Coleman; his
2grandchildren, Brandon (Heather) Johnson, Derrick (Brooke)
3Johnson, Jordan (Allyson) Henry, Yvonne (Paul) Lane, Whitney
4(Jordan) Lane, Scott Horton, Joshua (Amanda) Sherrod, Jamie
5Sherrod, and Jennifer Sherrod; his great-grandchildren,
6Brennen, Izak, Adalyn, Laura, Alivia, Landin, Sawyer, Ashlyn,
7Ava, Colton, Ethan, Andrew, Blake, Drew, Briann, Jaydon,
8Landin, and Audie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and additional
9family; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Billy E. Sherrod, and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Billy Sherrod as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
