| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Robert Charles Van Oteghem of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on May 21, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Van Oteghem was born in Moline to Alfonse | 6 | | and Florence (Hoogerwerf) Van Oteghem on April 14, 1920; he | 7 | | married Norma McCartney in East Moline on August 2, 1941; he | 8 | | proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and took | 9 | | part in the Normandy Invasion; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Robert Van Oteghem was an active member of First | 11 | | United Presbyterian Church in Moline and the UAW Local 865; he | 12 | | enjoyed traveling, spending time outdoors, especially | 13 | | gardening and doing yard work, and spending time with his | 14 | | family; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; in his younger | 15 | | days, he enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Robert Van Oteghem was preceded in death by his | 17 | | wife, Norma; his daughter, Patricia Van Oteghem; his grandson, | 18 | | Jeffrey Van Oteghem; and his brothers, Richard, Leonard, and | 19 | | William Van Oteghem; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Robert Van Oteghem is survived by his son, Gary | 21 | | (Linda) Van Oteghem; his grandsons, Steve and David Van |
