SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert Charles Van Oteghem of Moline, who
4passed away on May 21, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Van Oteghem was born in Moline to Alfonse
6and Florence (Hoogerwerf) Van Oteghem on April 14, 1920; he
7married Norma McCartney in East Moline on August 2, 1941; he
8proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and took
9part in the Normandy Invasion; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Van Oteghem was an active member of First
11United Presbyterian Church in Moline and the UAW Local 865; he
12enjoyed traveling, spending time outdoors, especially
13gardening and doing yard work, and spending time with his
14family; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; in his younger
15days, he enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Robert Van Oteghem was preceded in death by his
17wife, Norma; his daughter, Patricia Van Oteghem; his grandson,
18Jeffrey Van Oteghem; and his brothers, Richard, Leonard, and
19William Van Oteghem; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Robert Van Oteghem is survived by his son, Gary
21(Linda) Van Oteghem; his grandsons, Steve and David Van

1Oteghem; his great-grandchildren, Jessica, Kyle, and Gabrielle
2Van Oteghem, and Alyssa Nuno; his great-great-grandchildren,
3Lucy and Eden Van Oteghem, and Avery Byrne; and a brother and
4sister-in-law, Jack and Sally Van Oteghem; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Robert Charles Van Oteghem, and extend our sincere condolences
8to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
9it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Robert Van Oteghem as an expression
12of our deepest sympathy.
