SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert H. "Bob" Cook of Moline, who
4passed away on August 11, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Cook graduated from Rock Island High School in
61953; he served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958 and
7graduated from Augustana College in 1962; he married Betty Joan
8Carpenter on September 12, 1965; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bob Cook was a civilian employee for the U.S. Army
10for over 30 years, serving as chief of the Abrams Tank Branch
11of the Material Management Directorate at the Rock Island
12Arsenal; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bob Cook was an accomplished musician, playing
14both cornet and trombone; his lifelong passion was Dixieland
15Jazz music; he performed in many bands and numerous venues
16throughout Illinois, starting with the original Rocky High Corn
17Band in 1952; he enjoyed spending time with his family and
18friends; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bob Cook was preceded in death by his parents; his
20stepmother, Celia Thonn Cook; his wife of 35 years, Betty; his
21stepson, Michael Sweers; and his sister, Janet L. Day; and

1    WHEREAS, Bob Cook is survived by his daughter, Jane (Chuck)
2Winston; his stepdaughters, Pamela (Jim) Peckenschneider and
3Deborah (Don) Hazen; his grandchildren, Michael Hazen, James
4Hazen, Brett Banfield, Chad Banfield, and Barbara Gregerson;
5and several great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Robert H. "Bob" Cook, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Bob Cook as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
