SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard Burroughs "Dick" Swick of Coal
4Valley, who passed away on August 17, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Swick was born in Washington, Iowa to Harold
6and Bashie (Burroughs) Swick on October 10, 1935; he served in
7the United States Air Force from 1955 until 1958; he married
8Karen Wickham in Boise, Idaho on December 4, 1958; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dick Swick was a union steelworker at Alcoa for 35
10years and retired in 1998; he later worked at the Two Rivers
11YMCA in Moline; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dick Swick was a longtime member of the Edgewood
13Baptist Church; he was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast,
14especially for the Cubs and the Hawkeyes; he never met a
15stranger, enjoyed helping other people, and loved spending time
16with his family; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dick Swick was preceded in death by his son, John
18Swick; his sister, Elaine Hamm; and his brother, Harold Swick,
19in infancy; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dick Swick is survived by his wife, Karen, his

1children, Sheila (Joel) Grafton, Wayne (Denise) Swick, and
2Marci Gordon; his 11 grandchildren; his eight
3great-grandchildren; and his sister, Joyce (Bill) Anderson;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Richard Burroughs "Dick" Swick and extend our sincere
8condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
9him; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That am suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Dick Swick as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
