| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John "Jack" Cooper of Edwardsville, who | 4 | | passed away on August 15, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jack Cooper was born in Bethalto to Ben and Ann | 6 | | (Knudtson) Cooper; he graduated from Civic Memorial High School | 7 | | in Bethalto in 1960 and attended Illinois College for two | 8 | | years; he married Sandy Angle at the Carrollton Baptist Church | 9 | | in 1964; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jack Cooper's career as a banker spanned over 30 | 11 | | years, which included his tenure as vice-president of the First | 12 | | National Bank of Granite City; his last job before retirement | 13 | | was at PNC Bank in Springfield; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jack Cooper was a devoted and committed member of | 15 | | the communities in which he lived and worked; his volunteerism | 16 | | included the YMCA of Granite City, the booster club of Granite | 17 | | City High School, where he served as president during the 1980s | 18 | | while his son was a student there, and the Villa Marie Pool | 19 | | Association in Godfrey, where he served as president during the | 20 | | 1970s; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, Jack Cooper was an avid reader and sports fan; he |

| 1 | | enjoyed watching or listening to St. Louis Cardinals and St. | 2 | | Louis Blues games and taking his grandson, Jack, to his soccer, | 3 | | hockey, and baseball games and practices; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Jack Cooper was preceded in death by his parents | 5 | | and his sister, Pat Cooper Schmittling; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Jack Cooper is survived by his wife of 54 years, | 7 | | Sandy; his son, Jeff (Francesca) Cooper; his grandchildren, | 8 | | Jack, Ella, Maggie, and Maria Cooper and Norman Harris; his | 9 | | brother, Ben (Joan) Cooper and his children and grandchildren; | 10 | | and many other family members and dear friends; therefore, be | 11 | | it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | John "Jack" Cooper, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 15 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 16 | | further
