SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marvin Lowell Johnson of East Moline, who passed away on September 3, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Johnson was born in Moline to Robert and Naoma Yates Johnson on September 13, 1933; he graduated from Rock Island High School in 1951 and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War; he married Donna Olson in Moline on November 17, 1957; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Johnson worked as a carman for the Rock Island Railroad for 24 years; he retired from the Butterworth Center after 19 years; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Johnson enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, refinishing furniture, and spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Maradelle Ragland; and his brother, Donny Johnson; and

WHEREAS, Marvin Johnson is survived by his wife, Donna; his children, Tim (Donna) Johnson, Ranell (Doug) Dennis, and Tanya (Justin) Hartman; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and his sister, Janet Cooper; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marvin Lowell Johnson, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marvin Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
