| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Mary Ellen Burg of Woodstock, who passed | 4 | | away on September 10, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Burg was born in Woodstock to Harold | 6 | | and Mary Agnes (Bolger) Evans on January 17, 1934; she | 7 | | graduated from St. Mary High School in 1951 and married Joseph | 8 | | C. Burg at St. Mary Church in Woodstock on September 7, 1953; | 9 | | and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Burg worked at the First National Bank | 11 | | of Woodstock until she started a family; for many years she was | 12 | | a homemaker and focused on raising her children; she started | 13 | | working part time for the Welcome Wagon, introducing newcomers | 14 | | to the city of Woodstock; she later worked part-time at | 15 | | Montgomery Ward for several years; she then returned to banking | 16 | | for the First National Bank of Woodstock and continued there | 17 | | for nearly 40 years, retiring at age of 77; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Burg was a long-time member of the St. | 19 | | Mary Mariola Club and volunteered her time for various school | 20 | | and church related projects; she enjoyed travel planning and | 21 | | organized many trips for friends and family; she was an avid | 22 | | sports fan, cheering for the Cubs, Notre Dame, Green Bay |

| 1 | | Packers, and most importantly, the sporting teams of her | 2 | | children and grandchildren; for many years, she and her husband | 3 | | owned a second home near the Wisconsin Dells where they enjoyed | 4 | | entertaining; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Burg was preceded in death by her | 6 | | parents; her siblings; and her husband, Joseph; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Burg is survived by her children, Mary | 8 | | Jo Burg, Marcia (Jeff) Porter, Gary (Wendy) Burg, Robert Burg, | 9 | | and Michelle (Curtis) Price; her grandchildren, Meagan (Andrew | 10 | | Ruehl) Porter, C. J. Price, Abigail Burg, Alivia Price, Kylie | 11 | | Burg, Madelyn Price, and Jason Burg; her great-grandchildren, | 12 | | Caden and Cambrie Ruehl; her sister-in-law, Susan Evans; her | 13 | | very special cousins, Al Evans and Mary Ann Sharp; and by 43 | 14 | | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 17 | | Mary Ellen Burg and extend our sincere condolences to her | 18 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 19 | | further
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 21 | | presented to the family of Mary Ellen Burg as an expression of | 22 | | our deepest sympathy.
