SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joe L. "Mick" Vrban of Colona, who passed
4away on September 30, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mick Vrban was born in Moline to Joe F. and Elinor
6Robinson Vrban on August 11, 1940; he graduated from United
7Township High School and enlisted in the United States Army,
8serving in Germany and Washington D.C.; after being honorably
9discharged at the rank of Sergeant, he served four more years
10of reserve duty; he married Sandra Frame Morris in Silvis in
111968 and happily chose to be dad to her four children; they
12added three more children and raised their family in Green
13River; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mick Vrban proudly worked for John Deere Harvester
15Works; he retired in 1997 after 30 years of service; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mick Vrban was an active member and former
17Worshipful Master at Clement Masonic Lodge 680, Colona; he was
18also a member of the Colona/Green Rock American Legion, where
19he proudly served on the memorial rifle squad honoring other
20veterans; when his sons were young, he was a Boy Scout troop
21leader; he loved his family, community, and country; he enjoyed
22sharing simple joys with his grandchildren, including fishing

1on the banks of the canal, worm hunting, backyard archery,
2whittling sticks, and collecting coins; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mick Vrban was preceded in death by his parents;
4his wife, Sandra; his son, Jim; and his granddaughter, Amy
5Lynn; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mick Vrban is survived by his sons, Dean (Brenda)
7Vrban, Scott (Dawn) Vrban, and Carl (Vicky) Vrban; his
8daughters, Sherry (Joe) Lambert, Jennifer (Jason) Kneen, and
9Mikki (Brian) Vrban Krantz; his more than 30 grandchildren and
10great-grandchildren; his brother, James L. "Jocko" (Carole)
11Vrban; and his sister, Carol Stout; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Joe L. "Mick" Vrban and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Mick Vrban as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
