SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
50 ILCS 740/8  from Ch. 85, par. 538

    Amends the Illinois Fire Protection Training Act. Provides that training requirements for permanent employment as a fire fighter shall include training in the history of the fire service labor movement using curriculum and instructors provided by a statewide organization representing professional union firefighter in the State. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Fire Protection Training Act is
5amended by changing Section 8 as follows:
 
6    (50 ILCS 740/8)  (from Ch. 85, par. 538)
7    Sec. 8. Rules and minimum standards for schools. The Office
8shall adopt rules and minimum standards for such schools which
9shall include but not be limited to the following:
10        a. Minimum courses of study, resources, facilities,
11    apparatus, equipment, reference material, established
12    records and procedures as determined by the Office.
13        b. Minimum requirements for instructors.
14        c. Minimum basic training requirements, which a
15    trainee must satisfactorily complete before being eligible
16    for permanent employment as a fire fighter in the fire
17    department of a participating local governmental agency.
18    Those requirements shall include training in first aid
19    (including cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and training in
20    the administration of opioid antagonists as defined in
21    paragraph (1) of subsection (e) of Section 5-23 of the
22    Substance Use Disorder Act, and training in the history of
23    the fire service labor movement using curriculum and
