Amends the School Code. Requires the State Board of Education to develop and implement a School Share Table Program, including guidelines for the use of share tables in schools for kindergarten through grade 12. Provides that the Program shall be implemented as a part of any school-based child nutrition program administered by the State Board. Requires guidelines for the use of share tables to be made available on the website of the State Board on or before January 1, 2021. Provides for the adoption of rules. Requires the use of share tables to comply with any applicable local and State health and food safety requirements. Defines "share tables". Effective immediately.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 2-3.182 as follows:
|

| 7 | | Sec. 2-3.182. School Share Table Program. The State Board |
| 8 | | of Education shall develop and implement a School Share Table |
| 9 | | Program, including guidelines for the use of share tables in |
| 10 | | schools for kindergarten through grade 12. The Program shall be |
| 11 | | implemented as a part of any school-based child nutrition |
| 12 | | program administered by the State Board. The guidelines for the |
| 13 | | use of share tables established under this Section shall be |
| 14 | | made available on the website of the State Board on or before |
| 15 | | January 1, 2021. The State Board may adopt rules necessary for |
| 16 | | the implementation and administration of the Program |
| 17 | | established under this Section. The use of share tables as |
| 18 | | provided under this Section shall comply with any applicable |
| 19 | | local and State health and food safety requirements. |
| 20 | | For the purposes of this Section, "share tables" means |
| 21 | | tables or stations to which students may return whole food or |
| 22 | | beverage items that they choose not to consume, allowing those |
| 23 | | food and beverage items to then be made available for students |
