HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Officer
4John Petty "J.D." Rivera of Hegewisch, who passed away on March
523, 2019; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Officer Rivera attended Annunciata Catholic
7School and graduated from St. John the Baptist Grade School in
82009; he attended Mt. Carmel High School and graduated from
9Brother Rice High School in 2013; during high school he
10participated in ROTC; he loved the community of Hegewisch and
11purchased his grandmother's house down the street from where he
12had lived; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Officer Rivera always wanted to be a police
14officer; he entered the police academy at the age of 21 and
15became a patrolman with the Chicago Police Department, working
16in the 6th District; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Officer Rivera was a comedian who loved to make
18people laugh and did whacky dance moves; he enjoyed baseball,
19concerts, hanging with friends, and Pudgy's Pizza; he was
20curious, confident, loyal to his friends, and lived life to the
21fullest; and

1    WHEREAS, Officer Rivera was the beloved son of Catalina
2"Cathy" (Robert) Rivera Ortiz; the stepson of Robert Ortiz Sr.;
3the loving stepbrother of Robert Ortiz Jr.; the devoted
4grandson of Juan and Hermelinda Rivera; the dearest nephew of
5George and Juan (Joanne) Rivera; the dear cousin of Tiffany,
6John, and Jim; and friend to many; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we mourn the passing of Officer John Petty "J.D." Rivera and
10extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
11who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Officer Rivera as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
