| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of AnnaMarie | 4 | | McCall, who passed away on October 2, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, AnnaMarie McCall was born in Chicago during the | 6 | | Great Depression to Milan and Anna (Kaviak) Smiljanic; she | 7 | | attended Peck Elementary School, Eli Whitney Elementary | 8 | | School, and Cameron Elementary School; during her
grade school | 9 | | years, she was double-promoted three separate
times; she went | 10 | | on to attend Austin High School in Chicago; she attended | 11 | | business school and married Thomas McCall, a sailor in the U.S. | 12 | | Navy who became a Chicago police officer; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, AnnaMarie McCall worked for Time Life Magazine, | 14 | | the Bodine Electric Company, and Grey Van
Lines; she returned | 15 | | to school and earned an associates degree in liberal arts from | 16 | | Wilbur Wright Junior College; she earned a Bachelor of Science | 17 | | in Education from Chicago Teachers College and became a teacher
| 18 | | with the Chicago Public Schools; she was one of the original | 19 | | teachers in the Chicago Child Parent Centers, a program for
| 20 | | children from preschool through third grade; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, AnnaMarie McCall discovered she
had a deep passion | 22 | | for working in early education with disadvantaged children; she |

| 1 | | earned two master's degrees from DePaul University, one in | 2 | | guidance and
counseling and a second in special education; she | 3 | | retired after
spending her entire career with the Chicago | 4 | | Public School system; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, During retirement, AnnaMarie McCall enjoyed | 6 | | traveling; she embarked on several trips to England, one upon | 7 | | which
she returned to the U.S. aboard the Queen Elizabeth II; | 8 | | she took numerous cruises around the U.S. and traveled to | 9 | | Egypt, where she visited
the pyramids and sailed the Nile | 10 | | River; one of her most enjoyable trips involved a train journey | 11 | | starting in Chicago, traveling to the East Coast, and from | 12 | | there boarding the
Queen Elizabeth II, which sailed south | 13 | | through the Panama Canal to Mexico then to the West Coast,
| 14 | | before returning to Chicago aboard Amtrak; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, AnnaMarie McCall was a
member of the Maine | 16 | | Township Mainstreamers Advisory Council and the Suburban Area | 17 | | Agency on Aging; she was the advisor council secretary for the | 18 | | Des Plaines Friends of the Library and the treasurer for the | 19 | | Ladies Auxiliary of
the Showmen's League of America; she was a | 20 | | Silver Representative in the National Silver Haired
Congress; | 21 | | and
| 22 | | WHEREAS, AnnaMarie McCall was the widow of the
late Thomas | 23 | | (CPD); the beloved mother of Linda Gonzales (retired CPD); the

| 1 | | grandmother of Marc Harrison, David (Alba) Gonzales, Phillip | 2 | | Gonzales,
and Robin Gonzales (CPD); and the great-grandmother | 3 | | of Mariano Garcia
III, Evan Gonzales, Anthony Garcia, Harper | 4 | | Gonzales, David Gonzales
Jr., Jocelyn Gonzales, and Isabella | 5 | | Gonzales; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 7 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 8 | | we mourn the passing of AnnaMarie McCall and extend our sincere | 9 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 10 | | her; and be it further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of AnnaMarie McCall as an expression of | 13 | | our deepest sympathy.
