| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to commend Dr. Gary L. Knepp for
all that | 4 | | he has accomplished over his career and thank him for his | 5 | | dedication and hard work; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Knepp grew up on a farm in the | 7 | | Eureka/Washington area and started his education at
Illinois | 8 | | Central College; he obtained a Bachelor of Science in | 9 | | Agricultural Engineering from the
University of Illinois at | 10 | | Urbana-Champaign, followed by a Doctorate in Osteopathic | 11 | | Medicine from the
Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine; he | 12 | | completed post-doctoral medical training through the
Chicago | 13 | | Osteopathic Hospital; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, After completing medical school and post-doctoral | 15 | | training, Dr. Knepp received board
certification in family | 16 | | medicine with a sub-specialization in geriatrics; he took a
| 17 | | strong clinical interest in the diagnosis and treatment of | 18 | | dementia; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Knepp has dedicated his life to helping people | 20 | | by providing compassionate and expert
care to his patients; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Knepp spent 22 years practicing medicine in |

| 1 | | Eureka and helped lead in the creation
of post graduate | 2 | | training residencies in family medicine and neurosurgery at the | 3 | | BroMenn Medical Center
in Normal; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Beginning in 2007, Dr. Knepp served four years as | 5 | | the Professor of Geriatrics and Assistant
Regional Dean at the | 6 | | West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine; and | 7 | | WHEREAS, After his time in West Virginia, Dr. Knepp | 8 | | returned to his Central Illinois home as the Director of
| 9 | | Medical Education and Osteopathic Program Director at the | 10 | | University of Illinois Family Medicine
Residency in Peoria; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, While at University of Illinois, Dr. Knepp led in | 12 | | the development of the dual accreditation
of the residency with | 13 | | the American Osteopathic Association and helped develop the | 14 | | geriatric
curriculum; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, In 2012, Dr. Knepp was appointed Vice President | 16 | | and Chief Medical Officer for UnityPoint
Health - Methodist and | 17 | | as President of UnityPoint Clinics; in 2017, he was appointed | 18 | | Regional Chief
Quality Officer for UnityPoint Health; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Knepp continued to share his knowledge with | 20 | | others as an Adjunct Clinical Professor at
the Kirksville | 21 | | College of Osteopathic Medicine; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Knepp's passion to serve others has also taken | 2 | | him outside of hospitals, clinics, and classrooms; he has | 3 | | served in the Peoria Rotary Club, the Eureka United Methodist | 4 | | Church, the American Cancer Society, and the
Eureka Fire | 5 | | Protection District; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, After a long and distinguished career of serving | 7 | | selflessly in the community and
bettering the lives of | 8 | | countless others, Dr. Knepp is retiring from UnityPoint Health; | 9 | | he plans to enjoy life
with his 16 grandchildren, three | 10 | | great-grandchildren, and his various hobbies of amateur radio | 11 | | and
farming; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 13 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 14 | | we commend Dr. Gary L. Knepp for all that he has accomplished | 15 | | over his
career and thank him for his dedication and hard work; | 16 | | and be it further
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to Dr. Knepp as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
