| 2 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Magoon has served Ann & Robert H. Lurie | 3 | | Children's Hospital for over four
decades; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, As a result of Patrick Magoon's leadership, Ann & | 5 | | Robert Lurie Children's Hospital has
become a world leader in | 6 | | pediatric medicine and science; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, During Patrick Magoon's tenure, Ann & Robert Lurie | 8 | | Children's Hospital moved to a new state-of-the-art facility as | 9 | | a campus-affiliated institution of Northwestern University's | 10 | | Feinberg School
of Medicine in 2012; he continued to work | 11 | | tirelessly on behalf of the children and
families of the region | 12 | | and helped the hospital expand to 364 beds in the fall of 2019; | 13 | | and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, These beds are filled every night with patients | 15 | | from all over the world who have come
to Chicago for | 16 | | specialized care and treatments that only Ann & Robert Lurie | 17 | | Children's Hospital can provide; and | 18 | | WHEREAS, Since moving to the new hospital, the number of | 19 | | children served has
increased by 50 percent, outpatient visits | 20 | | have grown by over 70 percent, research funding from
the | 21 | | National Institutes of Health has quadrupled, and community |

| 1 | | benefit investment has risen to
a level that exceeds $100 | 2 | | million per year for the people and economy of greater Chicago; | 3 | | and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Magoon has advocated tirelessly for | 5 | | matters of children's health at the state
and federal levels | 6 | | and continues to provide the highest level of expertise to the | 7 | | Illinois Hospital
Association's Medicaid reform efforts; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Magoon is a true civic leader who is | 9 | | driven professionally and personally by
the idea that every | 10 | | child matters; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Magoon has shown a deep level of | 12 | | compassion for children and the men and
women who love them; he | 13 | | has built a team that is dedicated to providing healthier
| 14 | | futures for every child in the city, State, and beyond; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Magoon's relentless commitment to | 16 | | educating the next generation of
pediatric physicians and | 17 | | scientists has resulted in robust residency and fellowship | 18 | | programs,
training 256 residents and fellows and 160 graduating | 19 | | medical students, on average, each year; therefore, be it
| 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 21 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |

| 1 | | we recognize the life, work, and leadership of Patrick Magoon | 2 | | of Ann & Robert Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago; and be it | 3 | | further | 4 | | RESOLVED, That we declare April 28, 2020 as "Patrick Magoon
| 5 | | Day" in the State of Illinois; and be it further
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | 7 | | presented to Patrick Magoon, the Ann & Robert H.
Lurie | 8 | | Children's Hospital of Chicago, and the Feinberg School of | 9 | | Medicine, Northwestern
University.
