| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Laurel | 4 | | Susan Bault of Elgin, who passed away on May 17, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was born in Champaign to Lloyd James | 6 | | and Mae (Hall) McKenzie on December 13, 1957; she grew up in | 7 | | Ottawa; she attended Northern Illinois University; she married | 8 | | Kyle Bault on September 12, 1981; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was employed by Elgin District U-46 | 10 | | as a parent liaison for Garfield Elementary School and as an | 11 | | AVID (Advanced via Individual Determination) coordinator at | 12 | | Tefft Middle School; she ran for public office in 2006; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was deeply involved in the Elgin | 14 | | community, where she served as a Girl Scout leader, a volunteer | 15 | | for the American Little League, and an organizer of the annual | 16 | | Elgin CROP Walk; she served on the Citizen's Advisory Council | 17 | | for Elgin District U-46; she was the education chairman for the | 18 | | League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area; she was on the board | 19 | | of the Dupage United and Fox River Valley Initiative, | 20 | | supporting a low income, affordable housing project in Elgin | 21 | | (1212 Larkin Project); she received the Marjorie Leonard Award | 22 | | for Community Service from the YMCA of Elgin in 2004; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was committed to her faith and was | 2 | | baptized at First United Methodist Church in Champaign; she was | 3 | | an active member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church in | 4 | | Elgin, where she was a founding board member and treasurer of a | 5 | | mission serving the Irechelo Village of Kenya called Into | 6 | | Kenya; she was a passionate Chicago Cubs fan; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was known for fighting for social | 8 | | justice and supporting the underserved and overlooked in her | 9 | | local community; she will be remembered for her countless | 10 | | contributions to the Elgin community; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was preceded in death by her parents, | 12 | | Lloyd and Mae McKenzie, and her twin sister, Mary Elizabeth | 13 | | McKenzie; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault is survived by her husband, Kyle | 15 | | Bault; her children, Jason (Amanda Pinkston) Bault and Erin | 16 | | (Silas) Haltom; her sisters, Catherine (David) Eichelkraut, | 17 | | Margaret Johnson, and Ellen (Jack) Cress; her sister-in-law, | 18 | | Melissa (Marshall) Sayad; and her nieces and nephews, Blake | 19 | | (Jaime) Eichelkraut, Emily Eichelkraut, Sarah Clark (Johnson), | 20 | | and Scott Cress; therefore, be it

| 1 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 2 | | we mourn the passing of Laurel Susan Bault and extend our | 3 | | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew | 4 | | and loved her; and be it further
| 5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 6 | | presented to the family of Laurel Bault as an expression of our | 7 | | deepest sympathy.
