| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Bobra | 4 | | Jean Walker, who passed away on July 24, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bobra Walker was born in Chulahoma, Mississippi to | 6 | | Bobbie Ellis Sr. and Mattie Ella Dean Falkner on January 5, | 7 | | 1939; during her childhood, she committed to her faith at an | 8 | | early age and was a member of Mt. Gilead C.M.E. Church in | 9 | | Chulahoma, where she attended Sunday school and was a member of | 10 | | the church choir; she also was a member of the 4-H Club; she | 11 | | received her education through the Marshall County School | 12 | | District and completed her high school education at Mississippi | 13 | | Industrial College in Holly Springs, Mississippi; she married | 14 | | Landon Walker Jr. on February 1, 1959; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Bobra Walker and her family settled in Harvey in | 16 | | 1964 and became members of Christ Temple Baptist Church in | 17 | | Markham; she was a homemaker for the majority of her life but | 18 | | eventually pursued employment at Woolworth, Service | 19 | | Merchandise, and Falkner Bumper; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Bobra Walker was one of her family's historians; | 21 | | she remembered birthdays, anniversaries, family history, and | 22 | | other milestones; she possessed amazing management and |

| 1 | | organizational skills; she was a gifted cook and baker and a | 2 | | great hostess; her home was always immaculate, and her kitchen | 3 | | was always open to family and friends, especially during | 4 | | holidays with Christmas being her favorite; she had a "green | 5 | | thumb" that she shared with many, passing on her knowledge for | 6 | | growing her beautiful annual flowers, her house plants, or | 7 | | vegetable gardens; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, Bobra Walker was a sports enthusiast, especially | 9 | | when it came to baseball and football; she was proud of her | 10 | | family and their accomplishments, especially in education; she | 11 | | cherished her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with her | 12 | | children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; she exuded | 13 | | grace, sophistication, class, and style; she loved life and was | 14 | | a generous, devoted, and caring individual; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Bobra Walker was preceded in death by her parents; | 16 | | her sister, Gladys Young; and her brothers, Edgar, Bobbie Jr., | 17 | | Moses, and Larry Falkner Sr.; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Bobra Walker is survived by her husband of 61 | 19 | | years, Landon; her children,

| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 15 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 16 | | we mourn the passing of Bobra Jean Walker and extend our | 17 | | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew | 18 | | and loved her; and be it further
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 20 | | presented to the family of Bobra Walker as an expression of our | 21 | | deepest sympathy.
