| 6 | | WHEREAS, Wendell Jackson was born to Eula Mae and Lawrence | 7 | | Robert Jackson in 1938; he studied at Tilden Technical High | 8 | | School, Loop
College (Harold Washington College), Chicago | 9 | | State University, and Roosevelt University, where
he earned a | 10 | | Bachelor of Arts in Social Work; he married civil rights | 11 | | activist Ruby Jackson in the late 1960s; he later married | 12 | | Chicago artist and educator Eleanor Powell Jackson; he was a | 13 | | longtime resident of the Hyde Park neighborhood; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Wendell Jackson retired as a child
specialist for | 15 | | the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services; and | 16 | | WHEREAS, Wendell Jackson was a legendary actor, orator, and | 17 | | singer; he was loved by scholars and entertainers across | 18 | | genres; he recently published a volume of original poetry | 19 | | entitled Poems of My Life; he also recently wrote and sang the | 20 | | new CD, Slowbreakers, and narrated the CD, the Paul Robeson | 21 | | Story; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Wendell Jackson performed for the opening of the | 2 | | Rald Institute's Art Exhibition Fundraiser at the Chicago
| 3 | | Theological Seminary on February 18, 2020; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, Wendell Jackson was a delightful talent with a | 5 | | strong
presence; he was a generous, loving friend; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Wendell Jackson was a faithful church servant and | 7 | | served first at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Lilydale | 8 | | Missionary Baptist, where his dad was the founder; he then | 9 | | served many years at
Macedonia Tabernacle M.B. Church under his | 10 | | brother; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Wendell Jackson was preceded in death by his first | 12 | | wife, Ruby; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Wendell Jackson is survived by his children, Sauda | 14 | | Azizza Jackson,
Wendell Jackson Jr., Lawrence Jackson, and Emon | 15 | | Samarra; his sisters, Dorothy Smith, Loretta Jackson, Myrna | 16 | | McWhite, Arzetta Askew, and Dr. Uletta Butler; and his | 17 | | brothers, Robert Jackson Sr., Rev. Maurice Jackson, William | 18 | | Jackson Sr., and Rev. Dr. Fredrick G. Jackson Sr.; therefore, | 19 | | be it
