| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eileen | 4 | | (Solomon) Rand of Peoria, who passed away on August 21, 2020; | 5 | | and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Eileen Rand was born in Brooklyn, New York to | 7 | | Milton and Evelyn (Goldstein) Solomon on July 12, 1930; she | 8 | | moved with her family to Miami Beach, Florida in the early | 9 | | 1940s; she graduated from Miami Beach High School in 1948; she | 10 | | married Harold Rose in 1949, and their union had two children, | 11 | | Hilary Ann and Robin David; she later married Jay Milton Rand | 12 | | on August 28, 1959, and he preceded her in death in December of | 13 | | 2015; she and Jay had two children together, Andrew Alan and | 14 | | Evelyn Erin; she moved to Peoria in January of 2020; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Eileen Rand managed the office and practice of Dr. | 16 | | Melvin Platt for 35 years; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Eileen Rand volunteered for summer programs at | 18 | | Beth Moshe's Camp Avir on West Dixie Highway in North Miami; | 19 | | she donated many hours to the Sisterhood, raising funds to | 20 | | dedicate a new Beth Moshe in Sans Souci, where she served as | 21 | | president of the Sisterhood; along with her husband Jay, she | 22 | | was a dedicated volunteer for United Cerebral Palsy of Miami; |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Eileen Rand enjoyed making pottery, playing the | 3 | | piano, spending time in her garden, and helping her children | 4 | | exercise their creativity; she loved cooking and was always | 5 | | willing to make kugel for anyone who asked; she also loved | 6 | | traveling with her husband and spending time with lifelong | 7 | | friends from Miami Beach, Florida and South Florida; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Eileen Rand was preceded in death by her husband, | 9 | | Jay Milton Rand, and her brother, Leslie David Solomon; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Eileen Rand was the mother of Hilary Ann Rose, | 11 | | Robin David Rose (Karen), Andrew Alan Rand (Sid), and Dr. | 12 | | Evelyn Erin Rand Buzzella; the grandmother of Ericka, Naomi, | 13 | | Micah, Jonathan, Sequoia, Jasmine, and Trey; the | 14 | | great-grandmother of Alex, Kylie Anne, Aidan, and William; the | 15 | | dear friend of Bea Bernstein (Burt), Sylvia Kanner (Benny), | 16 | | Fran and Paul Cavari, Bobbie and Don Mendelson, and Seena Kuby | 17 | | (Jerry); and the loving pet owner of Doxy, Rasputin, Izzy, | 18 | | Aggie, and Minnie; therefore, be it
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 20 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 21 | | we mourn the passing of Eileen (Solomon) Rand and extend our | 22 | | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew |
