AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 187

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 187 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Act on the Aging is amended by
5adding Section 4.03a as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 105/4.03a new)
7    Sec. 4.03a. Educational materials on Alzheimer's disease
8and related dementia disorders.
9    (a) The Department shall, in conjunction with the
10Department of Human Services and the Department of Public
11Health, develop educational materials to inform the public
12about the available services for individuals, regardless of
13age, with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia disorders.
14The educational materials shall include, but not be limited to:
15        (1) A standalone website focused on Alzheimer's
16    disease and related dementia disorders.

1            (A) A link to the website shall be provided on all
2        relevant State agency websites, including the
3        Department of Public Health's webpage on Alzheimer's
4        disease and the webpages for the Community Care Program
5        and the Department of Human Services' Home Services
6        Program.
7            (B) The website shall include information on how
8        and where to access appropriate services for
9        individuals, regardless of age, with Alzheimer's
10        disease and related dementia disorders.
11            (C) The website shall include links to all
12        currently applicable and available services for
13        individuals, regardless of age, with Alzheimer's
14        disease and related dementia disorders.
15        (2) Written materials that shall be shared with
16    relevant health care providers and service agencies,
17    including, but not limited to, hospitals, doctors,
18    federally qualified health centers as defined in Section
19    1905(l)(2)(B) of the Social Security Act, area agencies on
20    aging, case coordination units, and the offices of the
21    Department. Written materials shall include information on
22    how and where to access appropriate services for
23    individuals, regardless of age, with Alzheimer's disease
24    and related dementia disorders.
25    (b) The Department shall develop specific training for its
26offices, area agencies on aging, and case coordination units

1that includes:
2        (1) Specific information on how to identify
3    Alzheimer's disease and related dementia disorders.
4        (2) Specific information on how and where to direct
5    individuals, regardless of age, with Alzheimer's disease
6    and related dementia disorders in order to receive
7    appropriate services.
8        (3) Specific information on how to communicate with
9    individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and related
10    dementia disorders.".
