| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Pastor Victor Hugo Rodriguez of Chicago, | 4 | | who passed away on February 11, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Rodriguez was born in Nuevo Ideal, Durango, | 6 | | Mexico to Juanita and Emigdio Rodriguez on January 16, 1967; | 7 | | his family moved to the La Villita neighborhood of Chicago when | 8 | | he was a young boy; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Rodriguez joined the La Santisima Trinidad | 10 | | Lutheran Church and discovered a passion for preaching; he | 11 | | graduated from Christian Life Church and worked as a minister | 12 | | for 26 years; he pastored at the La Villita Community Church | 13 | | for 20 years; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Rodriguez was a bridge builder between the | 15 | | North and South Lawndale communities; he was passionate about | 16 | | developing the next generation of leaders and served on many | 17 | | community boards, including the Chicago Youth Boxing Club, the | 18 | | Lawndale Christian Health Center, and Un Nuevo Despertar; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Rodriguez was affectionately known as | 20 | | "Pastor Vic"; he was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox; he | 21 | | had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed good food, movies, |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Rodriguez is survived by his wife of 27 | 3 | | years, Magdalena Rodriguez; his sons, Victor and Isaiah, along | 4 | | with Luis Alberto Per-ales, who he considered to be one of his | 5 | | own; his mother, Juanita Rodriguez; his brother, Juan Carlos | 6 | | Domecq; his sisters, Roxana Gonzalez and Suzana Arambula; his | 7 | | "adopted daughter", Yanira Trujillo; and many nieces, nephews, | 8 | | extended family, and friends; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Pastor Victor Hugo Rodriguez and extend our sincere condolences | 12 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 13 | | it further
