| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of James M. "Jim" Pauwels of Rock Island, | 4 | | who passed away on March 7, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Pauwels was born in Moline to Albert and Anna | 6 | | DeMeyer Pauwels on October 25, 1941; he graduated from Alleman | 7 | | High School in 1959; he served in the United States Navy during | 8 | | the Cuban Missile Crisis and was stationed at the Naval Air | 9 | | Base in Pensacola, Florida; he married Jane L. Knebel in | 10 | | Riverside, Iowa on July 11, 1964; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Jim Pauwels retired from the Rock Island Post | 12 | | Office, where he was a letter carrier; in earlier years, he | 13 | | worked for Deere & Company; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jim Pauwels was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic | 15 | | Church in Milan, the Knights of Columbus, and the National | 16 | | Association of Letter Carriers; he coached girls softball in | 17 | | Milan and enjoyed deer hunting and camping; he had a big heart | 18 | | and a passion for life; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Jim Pauwels was preceded in death by his parents | 20 | | and his wife, Jane; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Jim Pauwels is survived by his children, Julie | 2 | | (Dave) VanderGinst, Jean VanderGinst, and Jeff Pauwels; his | 3 | | grandchildren, Taylor, Bailey, and Chase VanderGinst and | 4 | | Sydney and Samantha Pauwels; and his brother, Edward (Kathleen) | 5 | | Pauwels; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | James M. "Jim" Pauwels and extend our sincere condolences to | 9 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of Jim Pauwels as an expression of our | 13 | | deepest sympathy.
