| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Nelson Gene Peterson of Moline, who | 4 | | passed away on June 24, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Nelson Peterson was born in Moline to Rudolph T. | 6 | | and Nellie (Nelson) Peterson on August 20, 1923; he graduated | 7 | | from Simpson College and served in the U.S. Army during World | 8 | | War II in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central | 9 | | Europe, earning several medals; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Nelson Peterson worked as a history teacher at | 11 | | Silvis Junior High School for 25 years, retiring in 1983; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Nelson Peterson was a member of Bethany Baptist | 13 | | Church, the National Education Association, and the Modern | 14 | | Woodmen of America; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Nelson Peterson is survived by his cousins, Sylvia | 16 | | Maravelli, Kaye Strate, Susan Coopman, and Todd Nerdahl; | 17 | | therefore, be it
