| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Stanley Emmett Furlong of Rock Island, | 4 | | who passed away on July 5, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Stanley Furlong was born in Moline to James J. and | 6 | | Margaret (McFadden) Furlong on November 2, 1949; he attended | 7 | | schools in Moline and graduated from Alleman High School; | 8 | | following high school, he joined the United States Navy, where | 9 | | he served in Hawaii for three years and as a Medical Corpsman | 10 | | on a ship off the coat of Vietnam for one year; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Stanley Furlong worked at Oscar Mayer Company for | 12 | | 20 years; he retired from Augustana College, where he worked as | 13 | | a printer; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Stanley Furlong was a member of the Mississippi | 15 | | Valley Blues Society, where he also served on the board, for 25 | 16 | | years; he enjoyed photography, discovering new craft beers at | 17 | | local breweries, and attending live blues events; he was | 18 | | devoted to his four rescue cats; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Stanley Furlong was preceded in death by his | 20 | | parents; his brother, Steve; and his sister, Marjorie; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Stanley Furlong is survived by his sister-in-law, | 2 | | Betsy Furlong, and her children, Brian, Katie, and Erin; his | 3 | | niece, Roxanne; his aunt, Jean Souchek; and many cousins; | 4 | | therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 7 | | Stanley Emmett Furlong and extend our sincere condolences to | 8 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 9 | | further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of Stanley Furlong as an expression of | 12 | | our deepest sympathy.
