| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of William J. "Bill" Powers Jr. of Elgin, | 4 | | who passed away on April 8, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Powers was born in Elgin to William Sr. and | 6 | | Vivian (Smith) Powers on August 19, 1937; he was a veteran and | 7 | | served in the National Guard; he married Joyce Applehoff on | 8 | | September 19, 1959; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Bill Powers worked as a painter and wallpaper | 10 | | hanger for 43 years; he was a member of the Painters Union in | 11 | | Chicago and Aurora; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Bill Powers was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran | 13 | | Church in Elgin; he was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox; | 14 | | he and his wife spent many hours watching their children and | 15 | | grandchildren participating in sports; he enjoyed bowling and | 16 | | golfing and spent many years camping with his family; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Bill Powers was preceded in death by his father, | 18 | | William J. Power Sr.; his mother, Vivian Bryan; his stepfather, | 19 | | Neal Bryan; and his brother-in-law, Larry Applehoff; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Bill Powers is survived by his wife, Joyce; his |

| 1 | | children, Kimberly (Glenn) Heichel, Kristin (Scot) Hendry, and | 2 | | Kurtis Powers; his grandchildren, Nicole (Chris), Troy | 3 | | (Cassie), Danielle, Tyler (Kelsey), Jacob, Ryan, and Teagan; | 4 | | his great-grandchildren, Alexis, Benton, and Adelyn; his | 5 | | brother, Larry Powers; two nephews; and his sister-in-law, Anne | 6 | | Applehoff; therefore, be it
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 8 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 9 | | William J. "Bill" Powers Jr. and extend our sincere condolences | 10 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 11 | | it further
