| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Officer Brett P. Lauten of Naperville, | 4 | | who passed away on September 12, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Officer Lauten attended school in Lisle; he served | 6 | | in the United States Marine Corps for six years; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Officer Lauten joined the Lisle Police Department | 8 | | on January 13, 1999; he retired on July 2, 2019 after 20 years | 9 | | of service; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Officer Lauten received many awards, including a | 11 | | Department Commendation, two Life-Saving Awards, numerous Unit | 12 | | Citations for outstanding work, as well as the Officer of the | 13 | | Year Award; he was the president of the Lisle Police Department | 14 | | Pension Board; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Officer Lauten dedicated his life to serving his | 16 | | country and his community and took great pride in his | 17 | | profession; he was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, | 18 | | uncle, and friend; he will be remembered for his humor, | 19 | | discipline, and willingness to help others; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Officer Lauten was preceded in death by his |

| 1 | | father, Philip D. Lauten; his grandfather, Thomas J. Krebes; | 2 | | and his father-in-law, Richard Maciejewski; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Officer Lauten is survived by his wife, Theresa | 4 | | (Maciejewski); his children, Madison and Maximilian Lauten; | 5 | | his mother, Judy (Krebes) Lauten; his grandmother, Rita R. | 6 | | Krebes; his sister, Kim (John) Ruskusky; his nieces and | 7 | | nephews, Amanda, Nicole, Sean, Lula, Joely, Vaughn, Leona, | 8 | | Quinn, Beaux, and Dashel; and his siblings-in-law, Rick (Jorie) | 9 | | Maciejewski, Lori Palella, Debbie (Al) Marin/Matus, and Kim | 10 | | Richter; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Officer Brett P. Lauten and extend our sincere condolences to | 14 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Brett Lauten as an expression of our | 18 | | esteem and respect.
