| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Emery S. "Whitey" Schomer of East Moline, | 4 | | who passed away on September 29, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Emery Schomer was born in Rock Island to Morgan | 6 | | and Pauline (McGuire) Schomer on September 21, 1935; he served | 7 | | in the United States Navy during the Korean War; he married | 8 | | Kathleen A. Welch in Rock Island on January 10, 1959; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Emery Schomer was employed in the Tool and Die | 10 | | Room at John Deere Harvester Works for 30 years; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Emery Schomer was a member of the Moline Jaycees; | 12 | | he was a member of the American Legion Post 246, where he was | 13 | | commander for a time and proudly served as a member of the | 14 | | Legion Honor Guard; he assisted with the Miss Mississippi | 15 | | Valley Beauty Pageants; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Emery Schomer was preceded in death by his | 17 | | parents; his wife, Kathleen; his brothers, Richard and Henry; | 18 | | his children, Paul and Elizabeth; and his son-in-law, Curtis L. | 19 | | Whitten; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Emery Schomer is survived by his daughters, |

| 1 | | Rosetta Whitten and Rhonda Westmorland; his grandchildren, | 2 | | Julie Whitten, Curtis R. Whitten, Steaphanie Smith, James | 3 | | Westmorland, Jessica Smith, and Jerrica Westmorland; and ten | 4 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 7 | | Emery S. "Whitey" Schomer and extend our sincere condolences to | 8 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 9 | | further
