| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of LaVerne Ferdinand "Vern" Linnenkamp of | 4 | | Silvis, who passed away on September 30, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Vern Linnenkamp was born in Sigourney, Iowa to | 6 | | Raymond and Margaret (Wagner) Linnenkamp on January 26, 1932; | 7 | | he served in the United States Army during the Korean War; he | 8 | | graduated from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa; he | 9 | | married Rose Marie Collatz on November 22, 1956; they had 12 | 10 | | children; he married Karen (Holden) Eastep on December 20, | 11 | | 1985; they had one child together; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, While working as a social worker in St. Louis, | 13 | | Missouri, Vern Linnenkamp discovered his calling to help | 14 | | others; in 1961, he moved with his family to Washington, D.C., | 15 | | where he worked as a personnel specialist for the federal | 16 | | government and assisted veterans; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, After retiring, Vern Linnenkamp moved to the Quad | 18 | | Cities, where he helped others through his lawn care business; | 19 | | he volunteered for many causes; he established the Facebook | 20 | | group, Speak Up Boldly; he was a member of St. Anne's Catholic | 21 | | Church in East Moline, where he sang in the choir; he enjoyed | 22 | | camping, traveling, and the most important thing in his life, |

| 2 | | WHEREAS, Vern Linnenkamp was preceded in death by his | 3 | | parents; his wife, Karen; and his siblings, John Linnenkamp, | 4 | | Mary Donahue, and Sarah Quinn; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Vern Linnenkamp is survived by his children, | 6 | | Dominic (Jill) Linnenkamp, John (Kelly) Linnenkamp, Delores | 7 | | Linnenkamp, Clare (Donald) Dobbins, Damien (Rose) Linnenkamp, | 8 | | Joseph (Rita) Linnenkamp, Carole (Eddie) Feldkamp, Theodore | 9 | | (Tonya) Linnenkamp, Gerianne (Walter) Fraddosio, Mary (Chris) | 10 | | Knotts, Nicholas (Jennifer) Linnenkamp, Chris Linnen, and Lisa | 11 | | (Megan) Irey; his bonus daughter, Erica Brooks; 25 | 12 | | grandchildren; two bonus grandchildren; seven | 13 | | great-grandchildren; his siblings, James (Marlene) Linnenkamp, | 14 | | Sister Catherine Linnenkamp, Donald Linnenkamp, and Donna | 15 | | Fiems; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 18 | | LaVerne Ferdinand "Vern" Linnenkamp and extend our sincere | 19 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 20 | | him; and be it further
