| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Priscilla M. Curran of Downers Grove, who | 4 | | passed away on November 20, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran was born in Janesville, | 6 | | Wisconsin to Harold P. and Mary Catherine "Katy" (Campion) | 7 | | McKewan on July 16, 1926; she attended St. Mary's Grade School | 8 | | and graduated from Janesville High School in 1944; she | 9 | | graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater in 1948, | 10 | | where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority; she | 11 | | married Richard Curran on August 18, 1951; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran was a teacher in Freeport; she | 13 | | taught at Joliet Junior College (JJC), Joliet Township High | 14 | | Schools (JTHS), and Freeport High School; she was one of the | 15 | | founding educators at the JJC North Campus in Bolingbrook and | 16 | | was a long-time substitute teacher and night school teacher | 17 | | with the JTHS system; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran was a devoted parishioner of the | 19 | | Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, where she was involved in | 20 | | the St. Raymond's Women's Club and the Eucharistic Ministry; | 21 | | she was active in her community and was especially committed to | 22 | | the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary and the Women of Rotary; she |

| 1 | | enjoyed 20 years of retirement with her husband, and they spent | 2 | | the cold winter months in sunny Siesta Key, Florida; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran was preceded in death by her | 4 | | husband, Richard F. Curran; her parents; and her sisters, | 5 | | Virginia Skelly, Jean Valasky Ganzow, and Dorothy Price Stokes; | 6 | | and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Priscilla Curran is survived by her children, | 8 | | Kathleen (James) Schlesser, Michael (Colleen) Curran, Jane | 9 | | (William) Purpura, and Timothy (Anthony Ng) Curran; her | 10 | | grandchildren, Jay Schlesser, Katy Law, Andrew Schlesser, | 11 | | Steve Schlesser, John Curran, Daniel Curran, Kelly Malette, and | 12 | | Patti Purpura; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and | 13 | | nephews; and her cousin, John R. Smith; therefore, be it
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 16 | | Priscilla M. Curran and extend our sincere condolences to her | 17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 18 | | further
