| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of George R. Osterberger, DDS, of Joliet, | 4 | | who passed away on January 26, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Osterberger was born in Chicago in 1926; he | 6 | | attended Lane Tech High School; he served in the U.S. Army | 7 | | during World War II, before returning to Chicago to complete | 8 | | high school; he attended DePaul University and the University | 9 | | of Illinois College of Dentistry, graduating from the | 10 | | Department of Orthodontics; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Osterberger began a private practice in | 12 | | orthodontia in Joliet; he also worked for many years as an | 13 | | Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at the University of | 14 | | Illinois in Chicago; he, along with partners Dr. Henry Peterson | 15 | | and Dr. Donald Carollo, established Associated Orthodontics in | 16 | | 1970, a practice that continues to serve Joliet and the | 17 | | surrounding communities to this day; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his career and in retirement, Dr. | 19 | | Osterberger served the Joliet community by donating his time | 20 | | and money to countless people and organizations, including the | 21 | | Catholic Diocese of Joliet, the Church of Saint Jude, Meals on | 22 | | Wheels, Senior Services of Will County, Shepherd's Table, and |

| 1 | | the Daybreak Shelter; despite this, we will never know the | 2 | | depth of his generosity and compassion as he steadfastly | 3 | | insisted that his contributions and service remain anonymous; | 4 | | and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Osterberger is survived by his wife, Marge | 6 | | Osterberger; his children, Mia (Scott) Goode and Thomas | 7 | | (Domenica) Osterberger; his grandson, Walter Osterberger; his | 8 | | dear friends, Thomas Kane and Mary Cele Doyle, along with their | 9 | | treasured children, nieces, and nephews; and his caregiver and | 10 | | friend, Rosita Tan; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | George R. Osterberger, DDS, and extend our sincere condolences | 14 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 15 | | it further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Dr. Osterberger as an expression of | 18 | | our deepest sympathy.
