| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Margie Pearl "Itty" Gavin-Woods of Will | 4 | | County, who passed away on January 29, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Margie Gavin-Woods was the third of four siblings; | 6 | | and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Margie Gavin-Woods was among the first group of | 8 | | women hired at Caterpillar Inc.; she worked there for 30 years; | 9 | | and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Margie Gavin-Woods was deeply committed to | 11 | | helping her community, serving as both a Will County Board | 12 | | member and the Forest Preserve Commissioner for 28 years; she | 13 | | had the distinguished honor to serve as a Super Delegate at the | 14 | | Democratic National Convention in 2008, casting her vote for | 15 | | the soon-to-be elected president, Barack Obama; she also served | 16 | | as chairman of the Healthy Community Committee for Silver Cross | 17 | | Hospital until her death; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Margie Gavin-Woods was preceded in death by her | 19 | | parents; her brother, Willie C. Gavin; her sister, Myrtis | 20 | | Moffett; and her grandson, Quentin Woods; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Margie Gavin-Woods is survived by her husband of | 2 | | 49 years, Floyd Woods Sr.; her sister, Denise (Jerry) King; her | 3 | | children, Brian Clarkson, Shawn (Sharon) Clarkson, Kevin | 4 | | (Nicole) Griffin, Danielle Selena (Anthony) McCullum, Sallie | 5 | | Griffin, Michael Woods, Michelle Woods, and Floyd (Tonya) | 6 | | Woods; her special niece, Kimberly Moffett; her goddaughter, | 7 | | Najee' Williams; her sisters-in-law, Monica Savage Woods, Lucy | 8 | | Ann Woods, Doris Gavin, and Patsy Gavin; her 26 grandchildren; | 9 | | her 35 great-grandchildren; her 2 great-great-grandchildren; | 10 | | and her numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; | 11 | | therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Margie Pearl "Itty" Gavin-Woods and extend our sincere | 15 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 16 | | her; and be it further
