| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of David Stanley Anderson of Jonesboro, | 4 | | Arkansas, who passed away on March 18, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, David Anderson was born to Stanley and Mildred | 6 | | Tenold Anderson in Fertile, Iowa on September 26, 1937; he grew | 7 | | up in Joice, Iowa on the family farm, where he cultivated a | 8 | | lifelong love of animals; he graduated from the University of | 9 | | Iowa in 1961 and worked in the Iowa City Parks and Recreation | 10 | | Department before moving his family to Normal, Illinois for the | 11 | | same position in 1965; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, In 1970, David Anderson was hired by the Town of | 13 | | Normal to become its first city manager; his many | 14 | | accomplishments in this role include the construction of the | 15 | | City Hall offices (now the annex) and city fire stations, the | 16 | | completion of the Constitution Trail, the Ironwood Golf Course | 17 | | and Subdivision, and the College Hills Mall, the redevelopment | 18 | | of 1 Normal Plaza, and the moving of Amtrak's station from | 19 | | Bloomington to Normal; he was also proud to have been involved | 20 | | in securing the Mitsubishi automotive plant in Normal; after 29 | 21 | | years of service, David retired in 1998; upon retirement, Ash | 22 | | City Park in Normal was renamed Anderson Park to honor David's | 23 | | accomplishments; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, David Anderson was an active member of St. John's | 2 | | Lutheran Church in Bloomington and the First United Methodist | 3 | | Church in Jonesboro; during his retirement, he was active with | 4 | | the ICMA as a Range Rider, helping other towns find city | 5 | | administrators; he was an active volunteer with Mended Hearts, | 6 | | the United Way, and Safe Harbor and was an NEA Baptist Hospital | 7 | | "Pink Lady" volunteer; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, David Anderson was preceded in death by his former | 9 | | wives, Sandra J. Anderson and BJ Anderson; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, David Anderson is survived by his four children, | 11 | | Greg (Glenda) Anderson, Shari (Steve) Mientus, Todd (Tammy) | 12 | | Anderson, and Joni (Mark) McNabb; his nineteen grandchildren; | 13 | | his six great-grandchildren; and all those who knew him as | 14 | | Grandpa Dave; therefore, be it
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 17 | | David Stanley Anderson and extend our sincere
condolences to | 18 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | 19 | | further
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 21 | | presented to the family of David Anderson as an expression of
