| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Elmer W. Johnson of Orion, who passed | 4 | | away on June 7, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Johnson was born in Geneseo to Knute and | 6 | | Oliva Karlson Johnson on August 14, 1922; he served in the U.S. | 7 | | Marine Corp for four years and was stationed in the Pacific | 8 | | theater at Peleliu and Okinawa; he received two Purple Hearts | 9 | | during World War II; he married Mary Frances Cook at Beulah | 10 | | Presbyterian Church in Orion on November 30, 1947; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Johnson worked as an assembler, repairer, | 12 | | and painter at I.H. Farmall Works for 38 years; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Johnson was a member of St. Paul Lutheran | 14 | | Church in Orion; he was on the St. Paul Lutheran Property | 15 | | Committee Cemetery Board for six years and was active in the | 16 | | American Legion; he was a member of the VFW and the local 1506 | 17 | | UAW Union; he was a Little League coach for Orion and visited | 18 | | all 50 states with his wife; he loved to paint during his | 19 | | retirement; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Johnson was preceded in death by his | 21 | | parents; his sister, Margaret Johnson Hertz; his brothers, Carl |

| 3 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Johnson is survived by his wife, Mary; his | 4 | | children, Thomas Johnson, Daniel (Karen) Johnson, Marty | 5 | | (Suzanne) Johnson, and Malia (Steve Knochenmus) Owens; his | 6 | | half-brothers, Andy and Leonard Johnson; his half-sisters, | 7 | | Evelyn Schollerman and Iris Hamilton; his grandchildren, Kelly | 8 | | (Scott) Peterson, Kevin (Emily) Johnson, Sarah (Eoin) Walsh, | 9 | | Corey Johnson, Ashley (Tyler) Horberg, and Destiny Knochenmus; | 10 | | and his great-grandchildren, Kody and Bryan Peterson and Kyah | 11 | | and Kile Johnson; therefore, be it
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | Elmer W. Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to his | 15 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 16 | | further
