| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Wayne F. Machnich of Lake Bluff, who | 4 | | passed away on May 17, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich was born in Waukegan on April 26, | 6 | | 1943; he grew up in North Chicago; he was a long-time resident | 7 | | of Waukegan and lived in Lake Bluff for the last 22 years; an | 8 | | Architecture graduate, he attended the University of Illinois | 9 | | and Southern Illinois University; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich began working at Legat Architects | 11 | | in 1968, where he served as president from 1983 to 2007 and | 12 | | retired in 2013; he was a founding member of its Board of | 13 | | Directors; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich served on the Architectural | 15 | | Foundation Board of Southern Illinois University; he was | 16 | | recognized with the SIU Alumni Achievement Award in 2007; he | 17 | | was also the founder and past president of the Waukegan Schools | 18 | | Foundation; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich was an avid golfer, and he served | 20 | | as the past president of the Glen Flora Country Club; he also | 21 | | enjoyed traveling with his wife; together, they visited all 50 |

| 1 | | states and all 7 continents, including Antarctica; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich was preceded in death by his | 3 | | parents, Gilbert and Angela Machnich; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich is survived by his wife of 48 | 5 | | years, Cheryl Machnich; his daughter, Tegan (Var Lordahl) | 6 | | Machnich; his grandchildren, Everett and Quinn; his sister, | 7 | | Corinne Nennig; and his nephews, Frank (Cindy) Nennig, Monte | 8 | | (Cheryl) Nennig, and Mike (Michelle) Nennig; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Wayne F. Machnich and extend our sincere condolences to his | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 13 | | further
| 14 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 15 | | presented to the family of Wayne Machnich as an expression of | 16 | | our deepest sympathy.
