| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Carleton "Tex" Munday of Normal, who | 4 | | passed away on August 14, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was born to Adlai S. and Elizabeth | 6 | | Smith Munday in 1922; at the outbreak of World War Two, he | 7 | | enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps; he served as a B-24 pilot | 8 | | and flew 51 missions in the China-Burma-India Theater; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday worked for AT&T Long Lines in | 10 | | Springfield and Peoria for 29 years; after moving to Normal, he | 11 | | was employed by State Farm Insurance for 17 years until his | 12 | | retirement in 1986; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was known for his honesty, | 14 | | loyalty, patience, and positive outlook; he was a proud veteran | 15 | | who epitomized the qualities of the Greatest Generation; he | 16 | | loved his family, had a zest for life, and was involved in his | 17 | | church and the community; he was a lifelong fan of the Cubs and | 18 | | the Fighting Illini and loved playing golf; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was preceded in death by his | 20 | | parents and his wife of 72 years, Virginia Collyer Munday; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday is survived by his three children, | 2 | | Gary (Lucille) Munday, Sandy (Paul) Hickman, and Carla (Ed) | 3 | | Books; his six grandchildren; and his 14 great-grandchildren; | 4 | | therefore, be it
| 5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 7 | | Carleton "Tex" Munday and extend our sincere
condolences to his | 8 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | 9 | | further
| 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 11 | | presented to the family of Carleton Munday as an expression of
| 12 | | our deepest sympathy.
