| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John D. Barnard of Lincoln, who passed | 4 | | away on September 2, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Barnard was born to J.B. and Alice Wright | 6 | | Barnard in Normal on October 28, 1948; he graduated from | 7 | | Lexington High School and then Illinois State University;
he | 8 | | served his country in the National Guard;
he married Janet | 9 | | Bressner in
1970; he later married Muriel Dahmm on April 1, | 10 | | 1995; after her death in 2012, he married Zelma Martin in | 11 | | Atlanta, Illinois on
November 17, 2018; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, John Barnard was a seeds man for Jacques Seed Corn | 13 | | Company and
a bookkeeper for Alexander Lumber; in retirement, | 14 | | he worked several years
at the Lincoln Park District Rec | 15 | | Center; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, John Barnard was a member of the
Normal Masonic | 17 | | Lodge and of the Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, John Barnard was a man of faith who enjoyed | 19 | | spending time with his family, reminiscing about old times,
and | 20 | | following his nieces and nephews activities; he loved being a | 21 | | grandfather and was a wonderful role model; he will be |

| 1 | | remembered especially for his gentle manner and kind soul; and | 2 | | WHEREAS, John Barnard was preceded in death by his parents | 3 | | and his stepdaughter, Robin Martin
Tackett; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, John Barnard is survived by his wife, Zelma; his | 5 | | sister, Betty (Paul) Duzan; his
brother, Robert (Deborah) | 6 | | Barnard; his
stepdaughter, Jennifer (Doug Gellner); his | 7 | | stepson, Daniel Martin; his three step-grandsons, T.J., Kyle, | 8 | | and
Hayden Gellner; his sister-in-laws, Laura
Tomlinson, | 9 | | Vivian (Geraldo) Valdes, and Georgia Allison; his five nieces | 10 | | and eight nephews, Jason Duzan, Jill Johnson, Kristina Waugh,
| 11 | | Benjamin Barnard, Nathan Barnard, Matthew Barnard, Jason | 12 | | Tomlinson, Will
Tomlinson, Esther Farmer, Elise Valdes, | 13 | | Alejandro Valdes, Fay Allison, and
Lewis Allison; and his | 14 | | several great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 17 | | John D. Barnard and extend our sincere
condolences to his | 18 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | 19 | | further
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 21 | | presented to the family of John Barnard as an expression of
our | 22 | | deepest sympathy.
