| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Richard C. "Dick" Johnson of Atlanta, who | 4 | | passed away on October 12, 2020; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dick Johnson was born in Beason to Carl and | 6 | | Maryetta (Hubbard) Johnson on April 13, 1936; he graduated from | 7 | | Lincoln High School in Lincoln; he married Mary Ellen Watkins | 8 | | on October 26, 1958; he served in the U.S. Marine Reserves for | 9 | | 6 years; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dick Johnson was a farmer who loved raising | 11 | | chickens and Hereford cattle; he could often be seen driving | 12 | | his van while delivering eggs from The White Feather Farm to | 13 | | businesses and families across 3 counties, feeding or chasing | 14 | | the cattle, checking the crops, or just out for a neighborhood | 15 | | visit; he retired in September after 60 years of doing what he | 16 | | loved; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Dick Johnson lived a full life as a husband, | 18 | | father, mentor, and friend; he will be remembered for his sense | 19 | | of humor, sincere smile, joy for life, and unfailing work | 20 | | ethic; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Dick Johnson was preceded in death by his parents |

| 1 | | and his brother, Paul Johnson; and
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Dick Johnson is survived by his wife; his | 3 | | children, Patricia (Rodney) Backsmeier, Steve (Lori) Johnson, | 4 | | Julie (Steve) Slayton, Kimberly (Brent) Carlock, and Cindy | 5 | | (Darin) Schempp; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; | 6 | | his brother, Larry Johnson; and his sister, Connie (Rich) | 7 | | Becker; therefore, be it
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Richard C. "Dick" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to | 11 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Dick Johnson as an expression of our | 15 | | deepest sympathy.
