| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Richard Nardini, who passed away on June | 4 | | 22, 2020 at the age of 85; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard Nardini spent most of his life in Schiller | 6 | | Park; he graduated from East Leyden High School in 1952; he was | 7 | | drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957, where he served at Fort | 8 | | Sheridan; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Richard Nardini worked at the Chicago-Sun Times | 10 | | for 56 years, where he worked his way up from messenger to | 11 | | director of classified advertising; as director, he built | 12 | | relationships with small local businesses to provide | 13 | | reasonably-priced newspaper advertisements; he received the | 14 | | prestigious Marshall Field Award for his salesmanship in 1976; | 15 | | he retired in 2006; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Richard Nardini served as a board member of the | 17 | | Leyden High School District 212 for 36 years; he served 29 of | 18 | | those years as president; during his tenure, he worked towards | 19 | | securing opportunities for every student that attended the | 20 | | district's two high schools; he retired from the board in 2005; | 21 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Richard Nardini was a loyal volunteer at Hines | 2 | | Veterans Hospital for much of his life; he was an avid golfer | 3 | | and a respected community leader; he will be remembered for his | 4 | | honesty, fairness, compassion, and mentorship; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard Nardini is survived by his wife of 63 | 6 | | years, Mabel Nardini; his sons, Richard Nardini, Ronald | 7 | | Nardini, and Robert Nardini; his daughters, Donna Mueller and | 8 | | Diane Weigt; his brothers, Ronald Nardini, Eugene Nardini, and | 9 | | Charles "Chuck" Nardini; his six grandchildren; and his two | 10 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Richard Nardini and extend our sincere condolences to his | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Richard Nardini as an expression of | 18 | | our deepest sympathy.
