SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

210 ILCS 45/2-108.5 new
210 ILCS 85/6.28 new

Amends the Nursing Home Care Act and the Hospital Licensing Act. Upon request, requires long-term care facilities and hospitals to facilitate at least one phone call or video call between a resident or patient and a family member of the resident or patient each day during a pandemic or other public health emergency. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by adding Section 2-108.5 as follows:

(210 ILCS 45/2-108.5 new)

Sec. 2-108.5. Resident phone call or video call during pandemics or other public health emergencies. Upon request, a facility shall facilitate at least one phone call or video call between a resident and a family member of the resident each day during a pandemic or other public health emergency.

Section 10. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by adding Section 6.28 as follows:

Sec. 6.28. Patient phone call or video call during pandemics or other public health emergencies. Upon request, a hospital licensed under this Act shall facilitate at least one phone call or video call between a patient and a family member of the patient each day during a pandemic or other public health emergency.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
