105 ILCS 5/34-18.67 new

Amends the School Code. Requires a school board to adopt written policies related to absences and missed homework or classwork assignments as a result of or related to a student's pregnancy. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections 10-20.73 and 34-18.67 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/10-20.73 new)

Sec. 10-20.73. Student absence; pregnancy. A school board shall adopt written policies related to absences and missed homework or classwork assignments as a result of or related to a student's pregnancy.

Sec. 34-18.67. Student absence; pregnancy. The board shall adopt written policies related to absences and missed homework or classwork assignments as a result of or related to a student's pregnancy.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
